' why is this so ' Tai chi forms are very complex and is a martial art, Qigong is more adaptable to suit everyone as is for wellbeing. It can take years to learn Tai chi but Qigong movements can be learnt in a few weeks. You can practise Qigong sitting down ' for disabled ' by adapting the movements, Tai chi you cant, you need to be pretty fit and agile. Watch a video of Tai chi and you,ll see what I mean.

Sounds like "Tai Chi" is further developed "Chi Gong". Is this true?

There different Serrao, Qigong sometimes is prounounced chikung, the word CHI in Qigong means energy, the CHI in Tai chi means ultimate. Both are based on using energy but in a different way, Tai chi is not for wellbeing as Qigong is.

Do you know the meaning of "Gong"? And that of "Tai"?

I think 'Gong' means work or something like that so Qigong would be translated as Energy Work', and 'Tai' in Tai Chi would mean 'Grand' or 'Great', Tai Chi Chuan would be translated as Grand Ultimate Fist.

If I get this right, Chi Gong is for healing purposes and wellbeing.
But Tai Chi can be used for the opposite of the purpose of Chi Gong too, destruction?

Yeah Tai Chi is for maiming people, but nowadays it is taught as a health exercise, don't get me wrong Tai Chi is also good for health but I believe it's a martial art for fighting others along with Bagua and Xingyi.

There are qigong forms with martial applications.

Perhaps Tai Chi is a more complete system, containing both Yin and Yang, while Chi Gong contains only Yang.

The Dan Tien is where artery and vein overlap each other. And the solar plexus has its centre.

Qi gong means "Life Energy Cultivation" and involves all energies, both yin and yang. Certain signature techniques in different traditions may be more one or the other, but certainly it would be hard to be healthy or to do healing and diagnostics of any kind using only one portion or side of the energy spectrum.

Peace & blessings
