I've heard eating raw garlic has health benefits, and can reduce acne. I would like to know if that is true. I don't think I can eat the whole raw garlic, maybe a clove or two will do.
Blessed be,
Lepus

Eating raw garlic is very good, and has many positive health effects. But too much can cause a burning sensation in the mouth and throat. Too much at once can be quite irritant.
Google "Health Benefits of Garlic" and you will see how useful it is for many health issues.
I regularly eat garlic, but rely on my instinct at the time if I want it raw....or just slightly cooked. For instance tonight I made brown rice and added crushed garlic only for the last 2 minutes of cooking.
But sometimes I sense my body wants it raw.
I can always tell if it is right. If so, it will hardly burn my mouth. If not -then even a little bit will be uncomfortable to eat!
Sometimes when I have had an infection or a cold, I can eat 3-4 cloves and it won't burn at all. Then on days when I am well, I need a much smaller amount, or the milder effect of it being slightly cooked.
N.B. It may be inadvisable to give to animals. Some people say their dogs can eat it and be fine. But it is the onion family, and onions are very toxic to dogs. It is never a good idea to give it to cats!

I tried it recently ( raw garlic). I had a bit of a bronchitis case the past month and since I read so many great reviews, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try it. I will have to say, it was not effective for me. At least for this specific condition. I tried a couple of nice rounded raw cloves; I will tell you one thing, my mouth was on fire A little too overwhelming for me. I think I will try anything else in the future but this, lol. Mucinex is great..
Different methods work differently for everyone. I like Toby's suggestion on listening to your instincts on how to eat it. After all, it's a very strong and powerful plant to digest. In short, don't force yourself. Personally,I like to cook with garlic ( a lot) it compliments chicken and veggies soups very well. I also like to dice/blend it in sauces. I would rather incorporate it gradually in my diet than swallow in in one punch..

Sometimes I chop it up and allow it to sit for a while, then eat it. They say that helps reduce body odor or something.

inspirit - LOL, I believe it does the complete opposite
If I eat too much garlic I smell like garlic, and this happens to other garlic enthusiasts I know in person...Perhaps if it's eaten in moderation it's not overwhelming but if one indulges in garlic overload, PHEW BOY you will not have to worry about vampires coming after you,

Yeah, the burning sensation is wow
I tried once eat garlic(1 big clove) on empty stomach. My body become warm. Now I Usually take 2-3 cloves, cut it and put it on my meals.
My mother also says for not eat garlic too much, because your body will smells like garlic. Not sure if this true.
Some says that some nutrients of garlic will gone if it's cooked or overcooked, is this true?

From experiences, my skin seems better since ate garlic. My acne is reduced and acne scars looks little better. I also have skin problem but not sure what it is(maybe warts, hives, or prickly heat), now some of them are gone and some of them becomes smaller. I never tried put garlic on acne, maybe it will more effective.
I also drink green tea(daily), use sodium bicarbonate(baking soda) and vicks vaporub(especially on cystic acne) for acne.
My acne always stop by every summer
