Generally Malachite is a soft stone so just be careful with it, don't put it in hot water or carry it with other stones. You can wear it as a necklace or carry it around with you the tumbled or raw specimens are generally harmless.
The toxicity from malachite comes from its copper properties but to be honest I would be more worried about copper frying pans.
I use malachite to help bring out all of my problems to the surface. I concentrate on myself and use malachite to make me aware of any issues my subconscious might be withholding. It really is quite a powerful stone.
