can even newbies do it? i know people new to wicca are not suppose to try out any of the magic. But this is not the same.

I would say you should be fine. Just make sure you know what you're working for and make sure you're using the right coloured candle and oil to dress it with.
And if you're working to bring something TO you then work on the waxing moon and if you're working to send something away (get rid of) then work on the waning moon.
