That's right, Sierra! That's the Hebrew meaning of the name, which can also mean "protected by God." The name has a different origin and meaning in English, though. Since the 16th century, the English word "samara" has been the word for the winged seeds of the elm, sycamore, and ash trees. The name "Sammara" is just a variation of "Samara." :)

Here is an odd potential connection to the seeds name:

In watchtower magic, the Watchtowers are invoked during the ritual of casting a magic circle (form of of Saṃsāra?).

In Christian influenced magic traditions, they are understood to be the Archangels Uriel, Raphael, Michael, and Gabriel.

So I was thinking that when the seeds fall one's imagination can envision them as angels coming from on high.
