Where Did spirituality come from ?

My question means that who brought spirituality to earth , I mean which religion ?
I see now a days christian calling themselves spiritual and so do muslims...
can these two faiths ever have spirituality in them ?

Note: These 2 are mere questions of discussion not debates.

Thanks

According to mainstream archeology, the oldest forms of religious worship are Goddess, Moon and Serpent - worship. We also think that Neanderthals were Matriarchal moon-worshippers. This is most probably the oldest form of religion and its remnants are Shaivism and Shaktism in India, as well as Tantra in general. They all relate to the Kundalini serpent and the Goddess. They all predate Christianity and Islam by tens of thousands of years.

I suppose the answer to this depends a lot on what one understands spirituality to mean. I don't see it as something that was brought in by a religion, but rather something innate to being a human being. Perhaps in some form, in other animals too, but that is beyond my understanding.
I think when one is aware of one's existence, and can comprehend it in the abstract, and is aware of ones own eventual mortality, then spirituality becomes natural.

I am. What does that mean? Will I always be? Is there any purpose and meaning to my existence?

Religions often try to provide answers to these questions, and reassurance to the questioner. But they are a result of the questions and spiritual seeking, not the originators of it.

I don't think spirituality has anything to do with religion and I don't think religions exclude spirituality. As for where it came from, we are humans, we think of things, we notice that there is an underlying something outside of our senses and maybe we need to label that.

i think otherwise since religions are based on books not inner self hence i think both are very very different concepts..please guide if i am wrong.

Thanks

Spirituality comes from and is Spirit.

That's the pure and simple origin, significance, viability, and ultimate result.

Once upon a time, there was a group of proto hominids...hunter gatherers out looking for their daily repast.

Not finding much, they stumbled upon a patch of unusual blue fungi and thought "hmm...I wonder if this is edible?" So they took it back to their caves and proceeded to consume it.

Not long thereafter, cave paintings, language and spirituality was born.

Far out man, there were even trippin hippies among the proto hominids. I am bettin it was not long after that a proto groovy Jimi Hendrix came along blew the roof off that cave.
