What's your favourite instrumental song?

I do love a good vocal, but sometimes I prefer to listen to a nice piece of music without someone singing over the top of it. I can think of a few, but probably the one I love the most is this one:

Pink Floyd - 'Marooned'

Though this one runs it pretty close:

Radiohead - 'Treefingers'

Used to listen to Floyd a lot years ago... still awesome after all these years.
That one is definitely a new fav.

I do tend to listen to music with no vocals more so than not these days.

Put on a pair of headphones in a dark room and listen to this one for a while.

Been binge watching Game of Thrones this last week.
Love the soundtrack, lots of bass, piano, cello, violin.
This is a collection of the peaceful/sad tracks.

Almost forgot, as an aside, when I first jumped into the middle of that Floyd vid I though the deserted buildings backdrop was Detroit. After viewing from the beginning, I realized it was Chernobyl. Although a fitting backdrop for a piece called Marooned (...on planet earth.?.), it is interesting to see what effect the meltdown had on the local wildlife. It says something when one thing worse than a nuclear reactor meltdown for the wildlife might just be no nuclear reactor meltdown.

Not really to my taste, but impressive all the same :) Hard for me to listen to sitar music and not think of Indian restaurants, tbh, British telly from the '80s has led me to believe that all Indian restaurants play sitar music so it just makes me want a curry as much as anything

Again not quite to my tastes, and I didn't listen to the whole thing, but a very impressive piece of music all the same :)

Aw now that is really beautiful :) Must confess that I've never seen an episode of GoT, shockingly, not really my cup of tea

Another few, while I'm thinking about it:

Pink Floyd - 'One of These Days'

That one's a slight cheat because there's a line of dialogue in the middle of it, but it's still essentially an instrumental to my mind! I'm a sucker for slide guitar, particularly the way David Gilmour plays it

Also a couple by Chicane:

'Red Skies'

'Leaving Town'

My all time favorite song, would have to be 'Gypsy by Fleetwood Mac'.

That song always transcended me somewhere else.

Another by 'Foreigner - Waiting for a Girl Like You'.

Love the hauntingly appeasing intro.

This decade,'Active Child - Hanging On'

Excerpt comment from Utube:

"A fisherman, who lived for his passion. In his youth, he was able to catch the largest fish of the river with ease, his strength for the sport unmatched. Many days of bliss and joy were spent on the rivers of the forest, as he lived and experienced life."

Another i listened to in the past 12mnths 'J-Cut & Kolt Siewerts - The Flute Tune'.

Bizarrio and the video clip i find hypnotic.

Throughout the years, there have been many songs/tunes,that has transcended me to a better place.

But have to say 'Gypsy' is the clear winner for myself.

These days though, since relocating,i've found my need for music has dwindled.

But not entirely,i opted last year and bought a range of classical music to listen to when i feel inclined.

Love music that transcends me somewhere else.

The songs that send a shiver down my spine.

Thanks for all the links, guys, I haven't listened to them all yet but there's some very funky/beautiful music in there

Elabr8Aspie - sorry, should have been clearer, I was after tracks that are just music, no lyrics :) (I probably should have said 'instrumental tracks' rather than 'instrumental songs', 'songs' implies singing). Though funnily enough my mate positively badgered me into listening to Gypsy very recently, it's a lovely song
