Is it just me, or are chakras ordered by . . .
Are chakras ordered by alternating masculine and feminine energies?
i.e. the first chakra seems to be masculine- direct action of survival
the second chakra seems to be feminine- relationships to others
third chakra masculine- action and motivation
fourth chakra feminine- love and empathy
fifth chakra masculine- outward movement of ideas
sixth chakra feminine- intuition
seventh chakra masculine- direction

I drew that cute little dragonet on DeviantArt's Muro board. It is a lot of fun to reply with pictures in a forum!

I believe that in some tantras the three lower ones are feminine & the three upper ones are masculine. This is shown by the dance between Shakti at the bottom and Shiva at the top, and the purpose of Kundalini as far as I have understood is to bring union between these two energies. In Greek mythology Earth (Gaea) is feminine and the Heavens (Ouranus) is masculine also. So maybe we have a different definition of what is feminine and masculine in our modern society?

They are indeed masc/fem/masc/fem etc.
Root is about routines, not about movement so much. That's why people who are stuck are too much in their root chakra and their sacral chakra isn't moving enough. Which it is supposed to do. It is outgoing, relating, creating, spontaneity and so on.
In any case, you got it right :)

I always saw the lower chakras as masculine and higher chakras as feminine..I suppose it's a matter of perspective of what you deem masculine or feminine. I wouldn't summarize the chakras in this the same way however.

So you are both saying opposite things? Paperw1ngs, is that just your opinion, or have you encountered it in teachings elsewhere?

That was my feeling from the get go when first learning about chakras awhile back and I am now taking classes in level 1 2 and master reiki and chakras is one of the first things I've been learning more about now in both the class and in books; in my reiki classes which resonates with me; root, sacral, solar are considered masculine; heart is both masculine and feminine; and throat, third eye, and crown are considered feminine. It is summarized like this
lower three-masculine, material/physical world, grounding, call to action...higher three-feminine, self reflection, spirituality
It makes sense to me once feeling the general energy of the chakra but also I don't want to say an opposing viewpoint is wrong. Perhaps we just see them and feel them differently and our view or feeling of masculine and feminine energy is different.

Maybe masculine / feminine is culturally defined. As I understand chakras comes from Tantra, it was their invention (maybe). So they defined them from their cultural understanding through Hinduism. Others have defined them from their culture, and it makes sense if other perspectives arises. I would say go with what feels right for you

I can see both as having some truth, the lowers as masculine, the uppers as feminine, also root as masculine, sacral as feminine and so on. I also believe there are both masculine and feminine aspects within EACH chakra! Just to confuse it even more..haha. Just like yin and yang, darkness and light can't exist without the other as well as a chakra being overactive or under active ...it's ultimately about the balance. I have a huge 1000 page chakra book and within it are conflicting viewpoints based on different cultures as well. Personally I'm going with all of the above.
