"Modern Spiritual Thought" would only apply to a "Modern Spiritual Person" isn't it?
If there is no association there, why bother?
Some of us live in the past... nothing wrong with that because there is never anything new under the sun and what is "modern" will pretty much be outdated and surpassed given enough time until another "modern thing" comes along for people to chase under the huge, egotistical grandeur of being "with the times". There's a huge social stigma surrounding it.
If we can see this "rainbow chasing" for what it is, we can say "you go on ahead...I have found my truth and I am happy just being where I am right now...wherever that is... modern, traditional, outdated or whatever".
Others may say that adopting practices that went out with Atlantis is a fool's errand...but that is only what THEY think and why should what anybody else thinks matter?
That is the real crux of the issue here and it is also a question I have yet to find an answer to because for everyone who says you should be doing a certain thing, you are bound to find another suggesting you do the opposite, so in the end, it is all up to you anyway.
