Pratyeka-buddha

Quote:
In early Buddhism, the various yanas, or ways of enlightenment, included the way of the disciple (shravakayana) and the way of the self-enlightened buddha (pratyeka-buddhayana). The latter concept was retained only in the Theravada tradition. By contrast, Mahayana Buddhists emphasize the ideal of the bodhisattva, who postpones his own final enlightenment while he works toward the salvation of others, and they consider both the pratyeka-buddha and the arhat (perfected master) to be too limited achievements.

The Puggalapaññatti enumerates nine individuals, first the Sammasambuddha, secondly the Paccekabuddha, thirdly the savaka, etc.

The first two are distinguished as follows: “What individual is the Sammasambuddha? In this world a certain individual awakes by himself to the truths among teachings that are not heard of before and then attains omniscience (sabbaññuta) and mastery of the powers (bala); this individual is called a Sammasambuddha.

“What individual is the Paccekabuddha? To this world a certain individual awakes by himself to the truths among teachings that are not heard of before and then he does not attain omniscience or mastery of the powers; this individual is called a Paccekabuddha” (Pug 10).

So the Paccekabuddha attains enlightenment, but not the omniscience or the powers which are the special attainments of the Sammasambuddha.

The island is Neutral / Positive, or Dzogchen (ZEN). The strong force (Neutron / Proton) in nature is the Dharma as invariance and symmetry that is unchanging. This allows translational symmetry, or individuation of forms (like Tao and named things). Reaching the original face is finding the original nature, which is the island (invariance). Compare this to the words of Jesus on the topic of non-judgment and positive only. Neutral / Positive. Judge not, or you judge yourself, which is the cry of one who knows sin firsthand. His host was his teacher. He literally judged himself, which is the aspect of his own will to overcome self. Literally, we are all the entire cosmos as expedient means to this answer. Love is the island that cannot change. Electrons break symmetry, revealing the cause of Dukkha. Imbalance in the system is broken bread in the Christian faith (this body which is shed for you). As the verse states, there can be no remission of sins (karma) without the shedding of blood (Dukkha / suffering). Ending judgement of others is realization of who they are in relation to your own self. ONE! Form the relative polarized state of good and evil, we arrive at the non-polarized balance above Dukkha, or the Island. In Sanskrit, Manu (man / law) means, "To Think." Yama means self-control. Budh means awaken. His mother is Mara (the illusion). Absolute must remake the body (tantra) by becoming the text (named things), which is parallel to John 1, the WORD made flesh. Father in Hebrew is Aleph Bet, or letters writing word (programming the illusion). Word is a volume written, or the person (tantric text as a body). DNA is the shadow of this process of letters (Father) writing word into a catalyst (mother). Son is the bread of seed baked in the cup of water, or immersion (baptism). All symbolism for a created and programmed reality with a purpose.

For the body to become the text (BUDH), the Buddha must realize his nature. It requires performance from practice, just as the use of any instrument in a symphony. Pratyeka yes, but watch the conductor. Tune your instrument. Performance comes from a score written by a composer. Of course, there's always improv and jazz. The object is to become the composer yourself.

" the Buddha must realize his nature ".....
If he hadn't realized his nature he wouldn't be a Buddha.
In Buddhism there is no ' Sin ', Karma is cause and effect.

All my own words written today. The concepts come from an unbiased approach to the study of Sanskrit and the various traditions, including Christian texts. I do not follow theology, but the underlying symbolism found in both linguistics, root morphology and the letters themselves. There is a hidden story there encoded. Sanskrit is a key to this. You can find more of my thoughts in summary here, then from the listed website in the document. You will need to enlarge to view.

In Buddhism there is no ' Sin ', Karma is cause and effect.

Kamma is volition.

"'Kamma should be known. The cause by which kamma comes into play should be known. The diversity in kamma should be known. The result of kamma should be known. The cessation of kamma should be known. The path of practice for the cessation of kamma should be known.' Thus it has been said. In reference to what was it said?

"Intention, I tell you, is kamma. Intending, one does kamma by way of body, speech, & intellect.

"And what is the cause by which kamma comes into play? Contact is the cause by which kamma comes into play.

"And what is the diversity in kamma? There is kamma to be experienced in hell, kamma to be experienced in the realm of common animals, kamma to be experienced in the realm of the hungry shades, kamma to be experienced in the human world, kamma to be experienced in the world of the devas. This is called the diversity in kamma.

"And what is the result of kamma? The result of kamma is of three sorts, I tell you: that which arises right here & now, that which arises later [in this lifetime], and that which arises following that. This is called the result of kamma.

"And what is the cessation of kamma? From the cessation of contact is the cessation of kamma; and just this noble eightfold path — right view, right resolve, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration — is the path of practice leading to the cessation of kamma.

"Now when a disciple of the noble ones discerns kamma in this way, the cause by which kamma comes into play in this way, the diversity of kamma in this way, the result of kamma in this way, the cessation of kamma in this way, & the path of practice leading to the cessation of kamma in this way, then he discerns this penetrative holy life as the cessation of kamma.

"'Kamma should be known. The cause by which kamma comes into play... The diversity in kamma... The result of kamma... The cessation of kamma... The path of practice for the cessation of kamma should be known.' Thus it has been said, and in reference to this was it said.

"And what is dependent co-arising? From ignorance as a requisite condition come fabrications. From fabrications as a requisite condition comes consciousness. From consciousness as a requisite condition comes name-&-form. From name-&-form as a requisite condition come the six sense media. From the six sense media as a requisite condition comes contact. From contact as a requisite condition comes feeling. From feeling as a requisite condition comes craving. From craving as a requisite condition comes clinging/sustenance. From clinging/sustenance as a requisite condition comes becoming. From becoming as a requisite condition comes birth. From birth as a requisite condition, then aging & death, sorrow, lamentation, pain, distress, & despair come into play. Such is the origination of this entire mass of stress & suffering.
...
"And what is contact? These six are classes of contact: eye-contact, ear-contact, nose-contact, tongue-contact, body-contact, intellect-contact. This is called contact.
