The higher self

- I am new to Taoism and I wanted to become my higher self but I am a little confused as how to do so. I have read articles and watched videos that advised a chronological order or method into becoming more enlightened that suggested I achieve luna Spirituality and focus on the lower level chakras before gaining Solar Spirituality and focusing on my higher level of chakras. I honestly don't know how to do any of these things, what are some ways that you have become more enlightened? What did you do through out your journey? do you have any suggestions, books, websites, or references that would help me thought out my process?

I am currently going on a book shopping spree so book recommendations would really help

My suggestion is do not even worry about becoming anything "higher" right now. These types of journey's are different for everyone so it's best to take your time and really figure out what is best for you through trial and error.
If it's chakras you would like to focus on start with the 7 in the center of the body starting at the base and working your way up to the crown. Two books that are wonderful I started out with was The book of Chakras: Discover the Hidden Forces Within You by Ambika Wauters and The Chakra Bible by Patricia Mercier.
From my experience the more you try to become the less you will it's all about letting go of expectations in my opinion! I wish you the best and hope I could a help you a bit (:

Thanks for the books suggestions I will definitely try to focus on my spiritual journey overall and not just becoming more enlightened - I just have one question what is luna Spirituality to you? is that something you encountered in your journey?
