Lammas...or this cross quarter, whatever your tradition calls it

Hi all,

Today is a cross quarter day and just wondering how others are observing it.

here is the SouthWest US, my family is honoring it by making corn offerings and cooking with corn.(and hot chile peppers to honor how hot it is at this time of year)

We read this prayer together this morning http://www.worldprayers.org/archive/..._gathered.html

We are burning a candle all day. It is in a glass and on the glass we wrote what we are grateful for and what our intention is for today.

We will also choose a spiritual focus for the next six weeks and dedicate ourselves to that.

Offerings will be left out for the wild critters (though that is not specific to this day)

I find my life is better ordered if I pause at every cross quarter and take stock of where I am in life, and set an intention. Also the seasons don't go past me in a rush, it helps me be more mindful and aware, and thus feel more gratitude.

I think choosing a spiritual focus is wonderful. When choosing a focus I try to keep it within the context of the season. Leaving offerings out for the critters is nice, too.

I agree, that by celebrating and honouring the Sabbats/festivals it really does help to keep your life in some kind of order

For me it is Lughnasadh as I follow a Celtic path. We honour the god Lugh and his mother - Tailtiu and give thanks. It is the time of the 'first harvest' or 'first fruits' and these are placed on my altar as I do a ritual outside.

I actually love this time of year.
