Yup! I was brought up Roman Catholic and even attended Catholic school for 12 years. I came to the conclusion early on that religious dogma just wasn't an accurate representation of reality. That's not to say the underlying foundations were bad or they didn't serve any good ends, just that over the thousands of years erroneous interpretations were introduced.
Me, I came to where I am now through an intense interest in consciousness because of two life experiences, one at 4 months old and another in my wild & crazy party years.
For the last decade I've almost been obsessed with consciousness and from many perspectives: religion, spirituality, philosophy, psychology, neuroscience and even physics, especially quantum mechanics. Meditation and non-dualism were the final pieces that for me put everything in place and now the world makes sense. LOL!
