To misquote something from an earlier posting:

if you are getting insulted by what I do, that isn't my problem...maybe you should look within yourself to find out why?

After all (to get back on topic), one of the marks of a self-realised person is indifference to the praise or blame of others. How can someone feel insulted when there is no-one present to be insulted?

Peace

Greetings Big John,

First and foremost, it depends how one defines a "self-realized person" so, may I ask what your own definition of this term is?.

I posed the original question with hopes of getting other people's viewpoint.

From what I gleaned from this thread, it seems to be ego based. I could be wrong.

Lets discuss this further.

I agree it definitely seems ego based. And we tend to make it much more confusing.

We are born without any concept of a self. Then we are taught that we are this, this, and that, so a concept of a "self" formulates. Then we try to adjust this self to the environment we are surrounded by, and/or the role we wish to serve in society. Then some decide to create a spiritual self. Which makes things even more confusing and leads you further astray because now you have to do all these weird things just to realize a self you've been creating all your life. A more interesting question would be, how the hell do you not realize a self that you've been creating and maintaining almost all your entire life? How did you get so astray and lost that you're looking for something that's always with you? How is it possible NOT to be self realized? That's spirituality for you.
