closed threads?

It depends on what threads. If they are the older threads from 2007, staff closed them to avoid confusion when the site came back up. We didn't want the information to be lost, but at the same time we are encouraging new discussions. Any other closed thread should have an explanation posted by staff.

I believe it is based on the Moderators or admins discretion. Often to save space.. forum topics are closed to reduce server usage. While others are closed because other users have "jumped ship" or "altered" the said topic to suit their needs.. In other words.. "Hijacked threads"

Threads that become too heated, or full of too much hate and negativity get closed. If a thread does not comply with the rules the thread also gets locked. If a thread goes so far off topic that it can not be saved it becomes locked. In that case it's best to create the new thread.

SF was rebuilt from an older database so in it a lot of old threads were bumped up as we lost a lot of threads. Those old threads are from old members and since they can not reply the threads were locked. It is best to create a similar thread now instead of trying to open an old thread that is years old. A lot of the old threads were locked as they were created before the new rules were created a few years back. Since they are not complient with those rules they have been locked.
