Past Life Regression vs. Soul Retrieval?

I was pondering about whether or not it is actually the same (or at least could be), that you travel backwards to find a part of your energy that has been dissociated with you so you can heal that part?

For me past regression is always prior to Soul Retrieval.So the information gained is used in the healing process. I found it very helpful to know the roots of issues I face in this lifetime. But its a tip of the iceberg Id say. As meditating on that particular energy will lead to other lifetimes where issue was repeated and additionally burdened with another disconnected energies of other Souls . It builds a kind of a net or at least I see it this way.

While there are no doubt many approaches to how and whether it needs done, for myself Higher Self led me to past lives where energy could be transmuted to bring healing or acceptance around an event or trauma.

Then several years later as all that was integrated I was led to do soul fragment recovery work - it had nothing to do with healing work per say, it was about solidifying my auric field and energy and incorporating lost bits of myself back for full energy expansion in this life and the service work I would be doing. It had to do with strengthen presence and energy field in this life After the healing work was complete.

All Depends on particular healing but I would first see the traumatic event in a form of symbolic vision then I see the energy being transmuted and then taking form of symbolic representation. But the transmutation is never done by itself, or myself there is always the assistance of Christ or Ascended Master. Several times I also could see energy bits coming back and building into my energetic field but it occurs some time after that initial healing. I am not sure if I experience it the same way as you CrystalSong:) but it sounds familiar.
