Welcome to the Real World

Do you think the matrix film is a good analogy to life and death?

I watched it on release back in the day and fell in love with it.

I also experience some paranoid delusions of virtual reality which were very scary.

I haven't watched "Matrix". What do you mean?

In my opinion, I think The Matrix films are a better analogy to perception vs reality than life vs death.

The films were definitely entertaining, when I watched them. But, don't read too far into it. For learning about life and death, use real talk.

The Matrix is an interesting topic. There is no truth to the movie in a literal sense, however it can be used for an analogy to waking up in a spiritual sense to the world and how dead everyone is inside, but the world keeps them distracted.

On the topic of the Matrix, it is implied in the movie that once they leave the first layer of the Matrix- that of the contemporary world- they awake into what they believe is the "real world" but is in actuality another layer of the Matrix (Keanu/NEO can still manipulate it much as he did in the first layer, he can see though he's blind, and many other signs)

I don't want to get stuck on a conversation about whether you believe that to be the case or not... the reason I mention is that I'd like to ask whether anyone has considered whether the afterlife could, much in the same sense, be just another "layer of the Matrix".
That is, not "the truth".

Is it possible it is not the source?

It's one of my favourite movie trilogies.. There are so many different layers to it..
Every time I watch it I learn something new..

My first thoughts are that the 'matrix' is similar to our physical world. We may have glimpses of being beyond the matrix. Through intense and rigorous spiritual practice one can transcend this world. The matrix itself is predictable and its master doesn't understand 'choice', which makes it reminiscent of a materialist-deterministic worldview of our universe..

What would Smith be..?
