I am surprised to find that Indians like Vinayak are misleading on origins of Hinduism and TIME without reading and understanding GITA and PURAN where it is elaborately explained.

Called as PANCHANG or Calendar and published from Banaras every year give the date from the dawn of 2nd sun on the horizon of earth. In my book ' The Real History of the Ancient World' I have given a specimen of a such Punchang that refers c1984 AD as 1955885084 years since the beginning of the creation.

The smallest unit of Indian Time calculation is called TRUTI that is equivalent to 0.00059 secs. This is the time that sunlight takes to cross three molecules of Aluminium silicate.

Divided between different time divisions like Kaliyuga, ...Satyuga the cosmic unit of time is Manvantar -equivqlent to 308.5 million years that is the approx. time our sun takes to go around the galactic center.

At present 6 Manvanters have passed and the 7th is continuing (SB: 8:1:4)

The YEAR 2015 would correspond to 5240 year of 28th KALIYUGA of Vaivaswat Epoch in the SHWET VARAHA KALPA.

On the SOLAR SYSTEM CALENDAR this would mean 1971.33 million years since the dawn of the 2nd sun on EARTH'S HORIZON.
