Gyanganj or Shambhala

Have you ever heard of a place of Gyanganj in the deep Himalayas? This is a divine place supposed to be inhabited by immortal sages from different religions with the sole purpose of spiritual growth. Apparently, they are far more developed from us, in all aspects and continuously work towards the development of the mankind.

There are lots of interesting stories revolving this place. Recently I have read a novel 'The Beckoning of Gyanganj' authored by Chandan K.Pathak which tells an amazing story of spirituality, romance and politics deeply influenced by the sages of Gyanganj. The book has its own website, available online and it is gaining rapid popularity in the Western countries as well. Wanted to share this as I found the book very different as well as revealing about Gyanganj.

This is the first I've heard of it. I don't think the average Hindu takes much stock in it, and it's not well known maybe. Maybe not.

In the Himalayas, things like Mount Kailash, and the pilgrimage to Amarnath cave temple are important.

You are correct. This mystical place is not very well known to common people but quite popular in the spiritual circle. There are lots of interesting anecdotes related to this place in Hindu and Buddhist scriptures. This place is not accessible to common people as no one precisely knows where it is located. That may be another reason why this place is not known to many.

The book, 'The Beckoning of Gyanganj' gives a nice glimpse of this place through the story.

I bet if this place really existed in our physical reality, it would have been seen with Google Earth.
I personally think it is an astral city.

Possible. The astral realm holds a lot. Personally I think it's just myth though.
