Kris, I think they would have seen that when the astronomical combination LAST occurred. So if someone is born on newmoon then that doesn't mean that the person was born on the latest newmoon.

It is a bit more complicated than specifying the lunar day of an event. I believe most of the time they specified positions of several planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter) along with position of earth and constellations and perhaps more. I am not an expert on astronomy. But I think given the precession of equinoxes, exact same locations of these bodies occurs only once in something like 25,000 years.

Yes; they didn't predict Krishna to be born like 5 days ago. I just gave an example to explain my point.


"like 25,000 years"

For birth date of Rama, we may need to consider this "25000 years" cycle.

For Krishna, astronomers have concluded that he was born around 5000 years ago, right? I've no issue with that.
