In my experience there seems to be a lot of zen priests who are chrstians too. I think zen is more adaptable to other spiritual beliefs as it focuses more on the individual finding their own way rather than relying on doctrines, like other Buddhist schools do. That's just my opinion anyway. I consider myself a spritual Zennist. I'm interested in the teachings of zen yet I'm interested in metaphysics too.

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru

Absolutely not. You are free to do as you choose. That means complete freedom, not only externally but internally. If the founders of a religion say you are free, then say that you cannot follow this along with that, they are clearly countermanding themselves.

Every belief system out there provides skill full means by which we can find peace with ourselves and others. As a free person, you can pick and choose what you like. That does not mean everyone will accept it. But thats alright to. how you find your peace is a private matter anyways. Its YOUR peace.

In my opinion, in relation to Christianity and Buddhism in particular, they are exceptionally compatible.

Freedom. Perhaps we cant escape rules put on us from outside, but by choice, we can exercise freedom within, and nobody can ever take that from you.

Buddhism with Christian Beliefs

I got strong Catholic beliefs but I admire the teachings of Buddha

There's a well-known Christian theologian called Paul F. Knitter who wrote a book called, Without Buddha I Could Not Be A Christian. Might be just what some would want to read...

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and have been very intrigued in the Buddhist way of living. I would like to learn more through those that actually practice in real life..

Practice? Life and living, in itself is practice.

unus supra - "How you find your peace is a private matter anyways." Everything you said resonated with me but this quote just summed it all up beautifully. Thank you.
