Lilith

Am I the only one who knows about Lilith?

If you haven't heard of her, she was the first wife of Adam, made of dust just like him, but refused to be submissive and was banished to a cave.
She controls the level of the Underworld (which has nothing to do with evil) and I believe she is very much real. She purpose is the guard the gates if the Underworld and to protect. She protects animals and children. So if you've lost a pet or are lost yourself, ask Lilith. :)

Uh no. Sorry. But that's completely inaccurate. Lilith appears in the Talmud as an explanation for the death of women and infants during labor and childbirth. It's explicitly stated that she's not nice - in any way. And before she appeared in the Talmud she was the demon of the underworld in Sumerian religion called Lilitu, and she was never depicted as being good (the Talmud made her look at little better in the respect of being the first wife of Adam), but originally, and ultimately in Judaism, she is a creature that kills children.

Well I completely disagree. I know that we both have different beliefs, so lets just leave it at that.

Lilith is of Judaic mythology and Lilitu is of much older Sumerian mythology from which Judaic mythology borrowed its Lilith myth from. But not all ancient mythology concerning Lilitu portray Her as an evil demoness, plenty of Assyrian/Akkadian literature portray Her as a benevolent spirit of Free Will very much in the Luciferian Light.

Essentially in Gnostic and Judaic texts, Lilith is Adam's first wife, and She is His equal but both Adam and God don't like that so she's out and the more submissive Eve is in. So, Lilith goes off with Samæl.

There's many stories about Lilith, I don't know what to believe. I've also heard that she's a fairy queen.

Fair enough. But what I said about Lilith isn't my "belief"; it's the truth about how she was perceived by most ancient cultures. But more power to you, I guess. Lol.

Well, I am not very familiar with 'Gnostic' interpretations of Lilith/Lilitu/Lamashtu. But I am not aware of plenty of ancient sources that portray her as anything other than a monstrous demon. So far, all sources I've seen that paint her in a quasi-positive light tend to be completely non-Sumerian & Akkadian in nature. If you have a book or website to show me I'd appreciate it.

I've heard that as well. But it seems to be a purely modern invention based on the premise that Lilith must have been a nice, wonderful goddess or otherworldly being before the mean old men made her into a demon of the night.

There's quite an interesting book out there called "The Book of Lillith" and another book that has some very interesting positive and negative things about her is "St Mary Magdalene the Gnostic Tradition of the Holy Bride". I do have the third book that lists many angels, demi gods and saints. Lillith is listed amongst the goddesses and is supposed to help with: connect with your inner wisdom; have the courage to speak up for yourself; be playful and passionate, and have incredible sex.

Yes Yes I have heard of her.... not sure what I think in regards to her.

I have always seen her as the ultimate protector of all women. I've also wondered what it would have been like if Adam had been ready for one like her. :)

Yes I have heard of her, Judith Pintar refers to her in the book The Halved Soul: Retelling the Myths of Romantic Love, which is a great read if any of you are obsessed with the idea of finding your "other half". A life changing book for me.

Judith Pintar is a PhD in Sociology, so I think her stuff is well researched.
