I am having my doubts about like attracts like

I think this is an unhealthy way of thinking

If something bad happens to you, it's NOT always your fault. This world is filled with problems. Yes sometimes bad things do happen to good people for no fault of their own. It's completely absurd to think that because something bad might have happened to you, that you attracted it.

What's worse, this idea perpetuates fear, fear of your own thoughts. It's impossible not to have negative thoughts. How are you going to deal with your own fears if you don't face them? How do you better understand something without understanding it's opposite?

Writing a positive book about a toxic person isn't going to solve their problem. Writing happy thoughts about a job you hate isn't going to make you fall in love with it. Sometimes common sense is missing in spiritual teachings.

Dead on. Unless someone's saintly and perfect they'd attract someone with their own flaws. No use following the LoA line about believing something you aren't yet. Were the notion "true", you'd attract someone who isn't what they're trying to believe.

A doubter will attract a doubter. Someone a bit fragile mentally will attract someone mentally fragile.

In the whole of the cosmos, this LoA stuff is the only instance of like attracts like. Elsewhere opposites attract... So it isn't much of a law, to me. (But that doesn't stop a populist author making loadsa money selling books pretending it's true.)

Just my views.

You hit the nail on the head with this one… Many spiritual teachings lack common sense. Tbh I have yet to find a single spiritual teaching or quote that reasonates with my own experiences.

It's truly sad that those who go about preaching about LoA and karma are doing more harm than good, yet they don't even realise it.

I believe this isn't about who's "fault" it is for what happens. It isn't about attraction, it is about creation. Your thoughts create, don't attract.

Maybe there is some truth to that. I just don't think we are entirely in control of events.

I agree. I feel there is a lot missing in the way that the loa is generally being taught. Check out this blog, she covers a lot of topics like this (she has a youtube channel also...)

I totally agree. Feel the feelings you are suppose to feel. Life is always sunshine and roses. Be true to yourself

Am bound to say it seems more like spiritual fraud than fault.
If it isn't about attraction why is "attraction" its operative term? What it seems to be saying in your terms is that the "you" behind the creation of your thoughts will attract the she/he behind the creation of their thoughts on the basis is you/they are following the same creative pattern. But I doubt many people who hand over their "hard-earned" for one of these books thinks that way at the outset.

It certainly isn't a law (except unto itself).
