Mentally working spells?

i recently found a spell online to get a person to contact you. it worked.
then i found out that it also worked when i mentally pictured myself working the spell. does that happen or was it just a psychic connection instead?

Ethics about such a spell is a different thing, but I hope were more asking not demanding this person to contact you.
But yes, spells can work if you just imagine doing them. Everything is in our mind and spirit. Tools are just one way to do spells.

I find that the only tool truly needed is ME. The other tools simply help to focus me. For example, choosing the exact wording helps me define exactly what it is I am doing.

Oh, yes. I believe that spells that you work in your mind without the tools are always more effective than performing the spell with the tools and not the mind.

Just so ! All that is required is a strong sense of purpose [ Intent ] and a strong focus [ Will ]. I suppose the key word is Discipline.

Just so!! The only thing I might want to add is "knowing" that it will manifest.

I suppose we should also consider the differences between FORMS of magic.
Firstly, there is the free-form of the Craft where the Will and Intent of the practitioner is sufficient to channel the natural earth energies into producing a manifestation - a kind of catalyst.
Then there is the form often referred to as High Magic where the formal ritual conditions the mind into a set formula - a kind of shorthand, a recipe.

Think of this as water flowing. The free-form Craft directs the flow into a channel but always "downhill" so to speak.
Whereas High Craft allows the water to flow uphill, like an Archimedian screw.
So free-form is a purely mental discipline and High Craft has an air of almost engineering to it.

I like remaining open to all the possibilities.

However--Candle Magick is by far my favorite method.

I agree, mind and material together can make for quite a powerful effect. For a long time I snubbed things like gemstone healing and tarot cards because I'd been disillusioned by them, and thought that ONLY free-form Craft could have any effect.

When I returned to the formal ritual, I found that the materials greatly help to egg on the Will and to focus the Intent... but it was something I had to go back to after working free-form, because without the free-form background it was just material.
