Triggers....

I have been through hell and back ( from a very you age ) now in my 30's I thought i had dealt with all the problems/issues that happened in my childhood/early teens and how it made me feel worthless. I've always been a very emotional and sensitive person and so far i have found this a big weakness of mine,

Last year something happened that triggered a memory from my childhood and since then i have not quiet been the same... i keep going over and over everything bad that ever happened, i wake up sad and cant seem to think about anything positive anymore...

what really was the icing on the cake was I've always had trust issues letting people in, i started talking to someone who eventually i felt i could tell things too not long after he walked out of my life. that hurt and has made me feel 100% worse..

When certain things trigger it, I've no idea how to just ignore it or carry on as normal

I'm wondering if Reiki will help?! x

I can relate to that, Beautywithin (cool name).
What people usually do is play the scenario over and over, BUT
they don't examine every aspect of what happened, how, when,
why. If you can teach yourself to stop and take the time to do
a more in-depth examination of what happened, it could stop the
unpleasant merry-go-round of just playing it over again and again.
It's ok to cry and all that. I think you'd be surprised at the deeper
insights from taking more time with looking at what happened to you.
Best wishes.

Reiki is wonderful energy however, I found it to be a temporary solution. I find the best way to deal with 'triggers' is to deal with the problems head on. If the triggers are caused by people, confront and deal with them accordingly, much of our blockages or 'triggers' are a result of stored and suppressed emotional energy.

A good way to help release these emotions is go into deep introspection/self reflection. Much of spiritual development is self awareness and bringing to surface the subconscious. In short, you want to allow what is suppressed within you to rise to the surface so it can be consciously processed. I find journaling to be highly effective, counseling or confining with a open minded non judgmental person. Let it out, and if there is a person causing these triggers, diplomatically confront/face the person if it is possible.

Good luck, and welcome to the forum

I completely empathize with you and can understand to a degree how you feel because I've also had some traumatic experiences in my early years and I have also went through a lot of emotional suffering.

I think it would be very helpful for you to strongly affirm that whatever happened in the past, no matter how bad it was, is done and over with completely. It doesn't define who you are now and who you will be in the future. Develop a positive vision and plan for your future and consistently work at it until you manifest it. Work on healing your mind. You have the potential to design a great life no matter how bad your past was. "The Kingdom of God is within you."

If you're not already seeing a therapist, I suggest you find a good one and attend regularly. Talking about your feelings with an empathetic person is a great way to release them and to become more self-accepting.

A spiritual practice is also very helpful for people who have been through trauma. The Almighty Spirit lives within us and is released through faith. In addition to that, by seeking to help others daily we become less self-absorbed and focused on our issues and tissues. When that happens problematic thought patterns tend to get released.
