Do you know any approachable guru who's a representative of God?

Do you know any approachable guru who's a representative of God?

By representative of God I mean s/he can hear God or have his body be controlled by God. Or instead of God, s/he can hear a person who can hear God, or so forth.

Many make such claims, but IMHO, the legitimate ones never would. They would have enough humility to keep quiet, just share their wisdom, and let it be.

It is said that, when the student is present, the teacher/"guru" appears.

My first extraordinary "guru" was a "homeless" black man whom I met on the streets of NYC. He would mysteriously appear and vanish whenever I needed him. That lasted for 9 years. He was in the midst of all and no one recognized his spiritual depth. I knew him for 2 years before he revealed himself to me though, during those years, I realized that there was something very unusual about him when I'd meet him and treat him to lunch/dinner.

Observe and you will find one. The "hidden ones" are best. You will find them in the most unexpected places and they won't be wearing the traditional "uniforms".

I understood what you both have written but if you know any approachable representative of God then please tell. I've been trying on my own like approaching people who could be representatives of God.

I have attended her few days to weeklong presentations on bhakti three times in three different cities in USA and was always uplifted by her talks and presence. I also visited her ashram in India and found it a blissful experience.

How do I know her to be representative of God? I can't say I know that.

This is a loaded question because it depends what you mean by "God" and also "be controlled" and "hear" - which may be less evolved than those who are fully Self-realized.

I think what you are looking for is a Sadguru - true teacher - one who is fully Self-realized, who lives, moves and has their being in the Divine. Such a one is my own master, Sri Vasudeva: www.blue-star.org or http://www.sri-vasudeva.com/

As was written in this thread, when the student is ready the teacher will appear so if you don't resonate with my teacher, the perfect one for you will come to you if your desire is sincere and when you are ready (receptive to them and at the right karmic moment).

God bless

Many Hindus go to God directly, via the sanctity of the Hindu temple or home pujas. They don't see the need for a Guru as such. That's one of the beauties of Hinduism, and in particular the Hindu temple. There's just God and you and do intermediary at all, which is quite different from the Abrahamic mindset.

Having said all that, I don't think it wise to sit back and not try. Maybe first try to decide what type of Guru from which sect you might want. There are Advaitin Gurus, Saiva Gurus, Vaishnava Gurus, and general Gurus. There are those that mainly expound on scripture, and there are those that 'wing it' speaking directly from the heart/soul intuitive mind, whatever you want to call it. There are also some who teach from silence. Some speak fondly of Hinduism while others avoid the term like the plague. Some charge money, Some don't.

So its a real potpourri out there. I don't envy you.

You can browse the internet, many Gurus have websites. Many don't. Some make great claims, others don't.

If you can give us more specifics it might be helpful. For example, what might a Satguru say that would satisfy your curiosity in some sense? What would it take to have you believe the message was indeed from God?

Prepare yourself for the coming astral journey of death by daily riding in the balloon of God-perception.
Through delusion you are perceiving yourself as a bundle of flesh and bones, which at best is a nest of troubles.
Meditate unceasingly, that you may quickly behold yourself as the Infinite Essence, free from every form of misery. ~Paramahansa's Guru's Guru
