Favourite piece of art?
Hello everyone! :) What’s your favourite piece of art? Is it a painting, a sculpture, or perhaps a stunning building?
Personally, I adore:
Painting: Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh
Photography: Fireflies, Japan 2016 by Yu Hashimoto
Sculpture: Mademoiselle Pogany by Constantin Brancusi
Architecture: The Taj Mahal
And there are so many more that I love!

Not really a particular favourite, more styles I like,
Paintings: Ones from the Late Middle Ages and Renaissance. Landscapes, hellscapes, town squares, tables with food. There's a museum in Brussels that is full of these kind of paintings.
Architecture: Art Nouveau.

Hi Altair :) That’s a fascinating mix of interests! The Late Middle Ages and Renaissance periods produced some truly captivating art.
Art Nouveau architecture is equally enchanting. I love Gaudi’s work; his buildings always remind me of Christmas sweet gingerbread houses.
Do you have a particular building in mind?

I love the Impressionists and the Renaissance paintings. In literature I love fantasy and maybe a bit of sci-fi.

I love art
But I cannot abide dull, dark, depressing ....
I need colour, light, vibrancy ......
I need art to fill my soul with love and magic.
I need it to speak to me....
I've got to admire Michael Angelo . He's on another level.
But I think my favourite has got to be Salvador dahli .
I love him.... His art is quirky , stupid, brilliant, unique , and Sooooooo me .
And if I'm honest, he's almost , and I say "almost" , as mad as me !!!!!
Modern day I LOVE Banksey .... Adore that street art.
On a different note, and I don't like to brag, but just this once I will !!!
But a family member is an art crime fraud detective .
My son is a fine artist.
My brother is a collector of original art and a famous gallery in New York are in regular contact with him to "hire" his paintings for their exhibitions ....

This!!! ^^^
That's why I love much of Vincent van Gogh's work.
I can feel his emotions through his work. It really moves me.
I somehow came across him & his work when 13-14 and when I had to do my annual mandatory lecture at school -age 14- I did it on Vincent.
I've once been told my work resembles Thomas Kinkaid in the way I play with light & shadow. That was in the time I still worked with oils.
So I looked up Kinkaid's work, loved it!
