Spires

I wrote this poem while in india in 2004, sitting in a beautiful garden in a mountain village...

Spires

look up
see the spires pointing to the sky
reaching for God, reaching so high
head up
always look first to God up above
the only one who fills us with love
reach up
just like the spires, higher and higher
rise way above all earthly desires
chin up
God is your friend, God is your lover
God is your father, God is your mother
fill up
with power and love, peace from above
happiness, bliss, what's better than this?
look up
follow the spires, higher and higher
share every gift from the one who inspires

I just spotted this one Howiemac :-)

Great writing, I like the images it brings to mind - and it's full of bhakti. Reminds me of a poem by Srila Bhaktisiddhanta, one line goes
'krsna mata, krsna ****, krsna dhana-pran',
which translates to
'Krishna's your mother, Krishna's your father, Krishna is the treasure of your life'

Hare Krishna !! :-)

That is a beautiful inspired poem. I wish I could say I have written one but alas I have not. Instead I have posted this one that I love.

Heavenly Grass

My feet took a walk in heavenly grass.
All day while the sky shone clear as glass.
My feet took a walk in heavenly grass,
All night while the lonesome stars rolled past.
Then my feet come down to walk on earth,
And my mother cried when she give me birth.
Now my feet walk far and my feet walk fast,
But they still got an itch for heavenly grass.
But they still got an itch for heavenly grass.

Dear Silver Swan and Co.

I found this poem today - i have never really read it before. I think it suggests the seeing and understanding of 'oneness'.

SONNET 18
Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate:
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date:
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By nature's changing course untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time that grow'st:
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

Does anybody else think this is beautiful?

Wow!!!!!! Thanks for posting this. I remember hearing it before, but I never really "listened" at the time. Yes I agree, it is beautiful and has inspired me to read more shakespeare. He most definately was a very enlightened soul.

I have you a copy of the poem - though it is only a crude photocopy!!

What do you make of the reference to summer?

I think that the reference to summer (and also other references to summer) are a reference to summerland. I have been thinking about this since the message. It is the realm of love x

HI THIS WAS POSTED BY A TERMINALLY ILL GIRL......SHE WROTE WHILST IN HOSPITAL......

HI 2 ALL ASWELL............

SLOW DANCE

Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round?

Or listened to the rain slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's erratic flight?

Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down.

Don't dance so fast.

Time is short.

The music won't last.

Do you run through each day on the fly?

When you ask How are you?

Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done

Do you lie in your bed

With the next hundred chores running through your head?

You'd better slow down

Don't dance so fast.

Time is short.

The music won't last.

Ever told your child, We'll do it tomorrow?

And in your haste, Not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch, Let a good friendship die

Cause you never had time to call and say,"Hi"

You'd better slow down.

Don't dance so fast.

Time is short.

The music won't last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere

You miss half the fun of getting there.

When you worry and hurry through your day,

It is like an unopened gift....

Thrown away.

Life is not a race.

Do take it slower

Hear the music

Before the song is over.

I THORT THIS WAS VERY HEARTBREAKING BUT ALSO MAKES YOU SIT UP AND REALISE A FEW THINGS.....LIFES 2 SHORT ENJOY....
much love and light.
