Dzogchen, The Self Perfected State is an excellent book.

I would also recommend Dzogchen, The Practice of Contemplation as a book to get one started on Buddhist meditation practices.

Here is an excellent link that goes over just about everything Buddhism related. The history, traditions and and the meaning of various practices.

https://studybuddhism.com/?utm_sourc...paign=banne r

The above is the new site. I have found the older site to be easier to navigate at times. Maybe because I am just use to it.

Hi Imzadi,

For an overview of the different Buddhist traditions, teachings and practices and their historical context, I recommend reading "An Introduction to Buddhism -Teachings, History and Practices" (Second Edition) by Peter Harvey.

With kind wishes,

Sam.

I have just, elsewhere in these forums, mentioned 'The Tibetan Book of the Dead', once you have this book you'll not need anything else.

My edition is from the Oxford University Press, translated by W.Y. Evans-Wentz 1960.
