It's more often than not based on a lack of self esteem, which is an ego that finds itself lacking and sometimes over-compensates. Ignorant speculation is either speculation based on nesceince (not having the information available) which speculation is anyway. Speculation suggests lack of information but as with most things it what the speculator does with it that's important. Honest speculation in context is usually fine and it helps to keep the mind open, speculation as a Universal/Absolute truth not so much.

Ignorance as in knowing the information but choosing to ignore it is more than likely cognitive dissonance, also known as the "lock on, lock out" principle. An example is when people 'lock on' to Spirituality and 'lock out' what does sit with their comfort bubble. Other times it can be agenda and that comes from the ego.

GOOD OBSERVATION
I previously wrote "But ignorant speculation still wields the scepter" which still holds true. A good example of ignorant speculation is when somebody claims they fully knows how a computer works. The probability of that statement being true probably is less then .01 percent. But, yet some still make that proclamation. No matter what you say, virtually everyone who makes that statement, "still wields the scepter": they are always right.

Happiness is the result of an enlightened mind whereas suffering is caused by a distorted mind.

Thank you. I'm not arguing BJ and yes it does hold true and I've been embroiled in that in another thread. All I'm saying is that there are underlying factors at play that are a more true reflection of people's Spirituality. It's narcissism and it often plays out in Spirituality, where opinion becomes the sceptre of Absolute Truth. It happens with inevitably regularity in any thread that even meantions the word 'atheist', and it's amazing how people have no clue whatsoever are far more knowledgeable in what atheists do than the atheists.

Sometimes stereotyping and discrimination is the basis of Truth.

GOOD OBSERVATION.
"Ignorant speculation still reigns the scepter" which holds no bars even when it comes to Spirituality.
But them....... do we not enjoy it this way?
