Was it a walk in, or a dream?

A few years back, I had what I felt to be a very strange lucid dream. In it, I "woke up" in a child sized bed. On the wall, it was 2 bunk beds next to eachother, indicating at most, 4 children. I sat up and noticed very worn childrens toys, a yellow letter block, tops, etc. For some reason the color seemed important to remember. I walked towards and through the door to find a lovely little girl playing with one of her toys. I looked and noticed it was a large room, where there was also a kitchen (very open floorplan). I began speaking to the girl, and we joked about this and that. Sudddenly her mother (who was cooking in the kitchen) asked her daughter "who on this earth" she was talking to. The girl simply responded (in regards to me) as a "friend". This seemed to alarm the woman who then said "Baby, I don't understand, there is nobody else in there, now don't you lie to me".

I then said my goodbyes to the young girl and woke up in my own bed.

Anybody have any ideas?

Sounds a bit like an astral projection to visit someone you knew from a past life.
That'd be my guess if it was my dream.
Or simply a vivid dream that served another function.

Well you wouldn't be a walk-in because you did not walk into that little girl's body and you ended back into your own body when you woke up. I guess she was lonely and was in need of friends and you were spiritually attracted to her and you gave her comfort. Children are very psychic. Unfortunately, a lot of parents write it off as pure imagination. Just my thoughts...

If you had done a walk-in (or possession) there would have been a physical body (not yours) that the mother could see. The fact that the mother indicated that no one else was in the room means you had no physical form. To be clear this was not a walk-in situation.

This is a dream or an OBE (astral travel or mental projection). With the details supplied I cannot tell which.

You were her invisible friend!!

It sounds like it could have been astral projection or a temporary soul exchange. I have not experienced them myself but I have spoken to people who have. Sometimes its almost as if they needed someone else to point out how their behavior was different if they did a soul exchange with someone else to nail down when they did a "walk-in" in the first place because some of them didn't remember exactly what they did.

Spirits can "walk in" to a person's body even if their own soul is still inhabiting it. That is how spirits communicate with me all the time.

A walk in does not necessarily mean the person was possessed. Spirits can communicate with people without actually taking on control over their body.
