Dysthymia

I have a diagnosis of double depression (Dysthymia) I've struggled mentally since childhood and have tried over 7 medications over the years.

I wondered if anyone could suggest something I could do or try, to assist healing or a way of coping with my illness?

Thank you.

well I been dealing with depression since child hood as well, and I been dealing with it for so long it has become a normal thing, but what keeps me going, is my passion to achieve my dreams, thee fact that I will be able to help others when I finally achieve my passion keeps me going. I say find something that you are very passionate about that can out shine your depression an you will hardly know its there, at least that is what works for me.

I just looked it up (Dysthymia) and the description is my life also. And for years. I think one thing you can do to help yourself (and this is going to sound awful cliche and boring) but it's to take care of your body. Get fit, eat really good...make your body your 'project'. Because in my low times, at least I feel physically healthy and not having poor health from not eating right saves me from one more reason to sink even lower.

Good luck and hang in there when you're feeling blue and remember to tell yourself when you're feeling really crummy, that a reprieve is coming, a rest from the greyness in your mind and you will get to feel good for a few days or maybe even a few weeks.
