Well, yes, I am the friend in question. I have thought that fairies were very unlike the creatures in my novel. I mean, the word fairy makes me think of Enid Blyton, though that is not entirely out of keeping, and of course, there is the disney fairies.

I wanted to do a re-imagining, so that was why I use faerie or a variation of the word. Essvass is helping me and she is a great help. She is very supportive and has a great mind and a wonderfully big heart.

I have always used the spelling 'Faerie' as a sign of respect. I work with Faerie guides, and they seem to prefer it. They also don't make any distinction between Fairy and Fae. But as far a literary fiction is concerned use whatever spelling feels right to you.
