Be as cautious, if not more so, with strangers on the internet as you are with them in person. You can make some of the greatest friends you have ever had but there is also a flipped side to that coin and while this site is very well monitored and managed I am sure from time to time some less desirable work their way in.
That said. Welcome to the Forum.
