How Much Time Do You Spend Deciphering Your Readings?
Hello,
Just wondering how long it takes until you understand what your reading is telling you?
As a newbie I find that I read through the card description (in the booklet) at least twice before I feel that I get the message. There's also some uncertainty as the message tends to change slightly when I go over the text again.
Having said that, the reading I've just done for myself has become more unified with time.

I'm also still new at it, and frankly it can take up to and including 2 hours (that was the longest, a full celtic cross spread) for me to work out whats being said, and even then some have taken some days afterwards for things the 'click'.
I am getting better though; as I memorise the card I'm able to 'get it' far quicker.
I also find that I'm asking far more direct questions, which makes the answers far easier!

That's a big like asking 'how long is a piece of string'
I've sat with readings for hours (usually self readings) when it doesn't seem to make sense. My usual trick is to take some notes, walk away and come back to it later.
For a full CC I usually take anything between 20 minutes to an hour and a half, it all depends what I'm trying to pull from the reading, how deep the client wants to go, how complicated the issue is or if the client wants to examine an aspect of the reading further.
I think every reading and reader will be different, although the more practice you have the quicker things click. That's why I prefer a detailed question instead of 'tell me anything', it gives you more context of the cards.

Thank you both, I realise this is subjective. I'm using oracle cards too, not tarot, so that simplifies things a bit I believe.
Interesting to see how others approach this :)

Hi.. I have been reading Tarot for over 20 years ... and I meditate on the card... step into the card, speak to the characters of the card and look at the symbols, the relationship of other cards before I begin to understand the reading completely.... I have a Tarot journal.. I always begin before I look at the books (the authors info) I write down what I see, my own thoughts and opinions .... It can take me anything from hours, days, weeks and sometimes it can take months (going back to reread the reading later on ) before I have understanding .... looking at events that have happened after the event.... after the day .... It will take as long as it needs to...

I'm a speed demon; I generally have the whole reading down in about a minute. To be clear though, this is a personal thing - I allow very immediate/gut responses to the cards (which speeds things up) and I also tend to do 3-card readings, which again speeds things up. Oh and my style/lifestyle - I'm always super busy and try to be efficient with most things I do, haha.
When I started, readings would take at least 10-30mins as I needed to read up on individual card meanings. Now that I'm more experienced (~10 years?) , more of that theoretical tarot stuff lives in my head all the time, so I can relax and allow for a more intuitive read :)

Well depending on which card comes up in the reading, it does take me some time to actually understand what is being said, I don't know how long, but it may take me up to 15-20 minutes. I don't really know how to fully use my intuition, so that kinda makes it more harder for me.
