are you wasting your life?

How much "life" are you prepared to waste trying to figure out the meaning behind it? Do you really think we are born here to spend our lifes time understanding why we are here, where we may have came from when we may ultimately return there to find out the truth all to soon anyway?

I study 'life' in school... trying to answer all of its biggest questions/mysteries... and I'll be doing that for the rest of my life. Sometimes I wonder just how much of 'living life' I am missing out on by chasing all of these answers... how many experiences I could have had.

Without living and experiencing all that life has to offer, will I even know if I do find one of its answers?

I don't think its a waste. I think we are meant to try to figure it out. If we weren't meant to figure it out, past life and life between lives hypnotic regressions wouldn't work. Also books like "Messages from the Masters" and "Journey of Souls" and "Destiny of Souls" would have never been possible. Those author's life purposes (or partial life purposes) and the regressed patients who helped contribute information to put into the books did it because it was meant to happen and meant to be shared. So, we are meant to know the information if we want to learn it.

Part of our mission is to "understand" how our thoughts, acts create our and others reality.

Understanding cosmic questions, like how the universe was created may very well be "useless" But learning about our personal universe is part of our task, and the
"reason" we have the experiences-life we do.

The only way we awaken from the dream, in by perceiving it as a play-dream-teaching experience. While still fully acting out our part.

No small task.
However if we learn to love, that's an accomplishment in itself.

"An unexamined life is not worth living."
Socrates wasn't suggesting we all be philosophers, but that we learn from our experiences.

You pose an interesting question. On first impulse, I thought perhaps no more than 10%, but upon greater reflection, I don't really view it as a waste but a tool of relaxation and entertainment, so in reality perhaps more than my original figure but all things in moderation.

Personally, in searching for a deeper understanding, I end up learning more about myself in the process, which in turn helps me come to a state of inner peace and calm, rise above the turmoil in life with greater clarity and helps rides life's waves with greater ease.

I don't think it's necessary,(so no to all above) but a natural consequence of revealing with greater spirituality. I do think people(sweeping generalization) may inadvertently search for those things out of fear of the unknown, and use it as a point of solace and perhaps adds structure/meaning to what seems chaos.

What say you? :)

Thanks everyone for joining in

Hi alamode, I think the key word is "know" as opposed to having a very minute portion of evidence to suggest a meaning of life.

The earths population as at 02/07/2012 was 7,050,890,638 give or take a few. With Michael newton having interviewed around 7000 of them only leaves 7,050,883,638 people to go before he can sure that there are not other variables so that he can ascertain a thorough consensus on the meaning of life. He has only interviewed 0.00009927823816007398 percent of the population. Then comes the question of how many of those were recalling memories of what they seen, heard, learnt and repeated it in the sessions.

I have not studied his personal work in great detail but i do know enough to come to my own conclusion that he has a long way to go before any of the information aquired during his sessions can be "known" as "truth". When you look at it from this broader perspective there has not been much ground covered when you consider it has taken his lifetime to aquire so little evidence toward proving the meaning of life. 7000 people would seem a lot looking at our pc screens but on a planetary scale it is very miniscule.

Could it be possible that he has only encountered those 7000 (0.0001%) odd people from his own soul group and that they are recalling their own study group from life between life? Maybe the other 99.999% of the population are just here to love and be happy with their families and friends. I wish i knew the answer.

Hi Res! I don't "waste" my time thinking about it, I think about it when I want to and I search for answers when I want to, when I don't feel like it I simply don't.

Personally I think anything you put your heart and soul into, if it follows your greatest good then it is never a waste of time, no matter how frivolous it may seem to others.

Hi Blacksheep, what say me? I dont have a lot to say really though you may find that hard to believe I know that i have spent the best part of my life thinking that i have the truth to find out i dont, then to find another truth, to find that i am no closer to it at all. I feel that in searching for the meaning of life i have wasted a lot of time that could have been better spent looking back in introspect. Although i too have enjoyed the journey which i feel is more important than just keeping my eye on the destination.

Im of the opinion that the meaning of life is right infront of us in the human world and the tools we need to ride the waves are very human in nature. The subconscious is a very powerfull tool when harnessed to gain a deeper understanding of our life actions/rections as Henri77 mentioned and i couldnt agree more with o'l mate Socrates . I have been spiritual (concerned with matters of spirit) for so many years but i am thinking that there is another word which would capture my being based on i that i dont feel the need to look outside our world for answers anymore. When i realise what it is i wil let you know.

I hope that answers your question, if not feel free to hit me with more
