I've gotten back to (mostly) daily journal writing and meditating...I had moved from almost every day to once a week. Both of these activities help to keep me grounded in the now. Being open to my existence consciously helps me to appreciate whatever it is I'm "doing"...even when what I'm doing is sitting there "being."

Glad to hear you're feeling positive about the changes you're making

Journaling is a wonderful way to bring focus to things. Giving things a new perspective can be very helpful in inviting change. Writing has a way of opening our eyes a little wider. :)

One change I am making is to use dish washing time as a meditation - fully feeling the experience of that - the flow of the water, smooth texture of the plates, different pressure I use for different task, etc. I just described here so it would be easier to understand, but I actually do not think or label, when I do that -just feel.
Then I actually like washing dishes.

Joyfirst, you make a wonderful point. There is no getting around washing the dishes. By making it an experience instead of a chore you are inviting positive change. Finding the joy (love your name by the way) has positive effects on you and those around you. You are lessening clutter, you are smiling- how could that not effect your surroundings?! Thank you for sharing that with us. Sending warm wishes :)

12meadows, lovely idea for a thread ! Very nice ideas for inviting changes, I will give this further thought as I am ready for a few new changes too. One small one is not to go online first thing, lol ! some days it works, some days I just cannot resist.

Thanks Dream Angel :)
You should pick something good to fill that time with. Something you usually put off. I like the mornings because they are quiet and I feel like I can focus on myself before the demands of the day begin. I hope you find a wonderful start today and everyday :)

Hi 12meadows!

Great thread! It really has sparked me to look over my day and carve out a little more time for something I enjoy.
Working full time and a 7 year old keep me busy-- routines are needed, but maybe getting up earlier to meditate or sit on my patio with my favorite coffee mug could just be the ticket. :)

Thanks for the inspiration

In peace..Lilybugs

SHOULD..... the word should- it implies regret, disappointment, not letting go. I think I would like to be more conscious of using this word- actually cease using it altogether. if you think about it, what good is " I should have ______?" or "they should have ____? . what purpose does it serve? not a good one as far as I can tell. any ideas guys? :)

i don't have a set routine other than right after i get up-coffee, paper, do the puzzles, then i go outside (it's usually right before or at sunup.) face the east, give my prayers, then i just watch all the critters wake up and provide me amusement or wisdom.

after that, i paint, sculpt, squeeze in chores....i'm very content with my life. if some call it a rut-then i'm very content with my rut.

my downside is, i'm not a very social person. (not that i'm shy-i just don't like a lot of people. :)) i have a few close friends but i hate parties, malls, concerts....i hate being in crowds so i have turned down hundreds of invitations because they usually entail lots of people.

so lately i have forced myself to go out and do things i normally wouldn't do. sometimes they don't work out and all i can think about is going home. on the other hand, some have been pleasantly surprising.

so even though some may be a bust-i've opened the door to something possible new and positive.
