How do I cleanse my new apartment?

Hello-

I moved into an apartment that is over 150 years old. I really like the building, but my cats are picking up on something that I have never seen them do before. They will meow into the air, staring at nothing; and will pace around the room in a concerned way. I feel as if they are seeing some type of spiritual presence that I am not able to see. I have read several things about cats being spiritually aware to a point that humans are not; so I wouldn't doubt at all that my cats are seeing the spirits of those before me in the house.

Anyway, my question is how can I cleanse my house so that the spirits and my cats alike are put at ease and happy in our house? I have used sage, but I feel like I need something more as the cats are still very restless.

I've found that no amount of sage will get the kitchen or the bathroom clean, wash dishes or dirty laundry ;-)

If anything, burning sage produces particulate matter which condenses from the smoke and eventually settles as more dust.

The kind of cleaning that produces a good effect for spiritual work is thorough and comprehensive, and also maintained by daily habit and intention.

Of course, a certain amount of simplicity makes that easier, but often, that is also not easy to achieve.

Recommend removing street shoes before entering living space; shower/bathe once a day (sleep better if done before sleep) and/or before meditating ( +, meditation one or more times a day is effective).

I do agree with Jyotir's advice. And I like how aware you are of your cats' sensitivity. My belief is in the use of sage, and also continual internal intention to release the spirit nature of whatever is within your new home.

Time and determination will enable the process. I hope we hear more.

Certain stones can absorb negative energy. you can also "excorcise" every place by absorbing the energy then spread it outside. But the essence of the house remains. Once energy gets into new objects it doesnt leave.

It's not necessarily a bad thing. A place that old, it is bound to have some residual energy from previous occupants. Smudging gets rid of the negative energy, which is the most important thing. You may just have someone sharing your home with you, perhaps someone who needs some more time to be able to leave, or even someone who doesn't realize that it is time to let go. If you or your cats are freaked out, I would consider hiring a reputable medium to come and see what's going on.

I feel like in this case maybe someone got sort of stuck, and they will move on when they are ready. I would be wary of trying to contact them, since you don't know what you're dealing with and you don't want to interfere with their process.

Maybe they are just getting used to their new home. Maybe they are homesick and restless because of that, not because of spirits.

or maybe they are looking in the direction they heard a sound in, or maybe they smell something.
