Meditative tools (music, video)

Hi guys, what's your opinion on using audio/video while meditating? Can you share your experience?

It is not necessary, but to some, it may be helpful.
I have tried meditating with some nature music and a gentle, soft speaking female voice and it has helped me once, but the other time I felt like I could do better without it and I did.

So I think its all about how you feel in the moment. The best meditation is in nature for me, on a meadow, wind blowing easily and you can hear nature sounds. To me that atmosphere seems like the most natural to us, humans.

Most of the time I meditate in a silent environment.
This is to keep the environment as natural as possible.

But sometimes I meditate with music and I find those meditations very enjoyable too.

any audio or visual stimuli makes you reliant or dependant on going outside to get your peace, meditation as far as I see it relys on you going inward and focusing on relaxing your body, relaxing your your mind and then letting go of your own thoughts as they arise.....you may use concentration devices to fine tune your observations though no problem.

but to go outside and depend on a video or audio to fix your mental equilibrium is not a good idea for obvious reasons.

Hi

For me as a begginer it was very helpful to me.I tried the natural way but even
5 mins was very long that way and with guided meditations i could meditate longer and it was easier as you just had to listen.

I use to do 2 guided meditations for 10+10 mins at a time for 2 times a day.I could not even do 5 mins without it.
So if you a begginer i would suggest that if you cant do it the natural way to try guided
meditations or music if it helps you better but you can switch later on when you are better at quieting your mind.

Is it the best way to meditate i am not sure as i swiched to natural way.
I would suggest aswell to start with the breathing meditation and then go
from there

Good luck
