Chicle

Hello everyone,

I don't want to be cheeky because I know you all already gave your love and support for Amelio when he was very sick but I really need your help again and this time I feel it is needed even more because I think we will be the only ones thinking of him.

Okay so...at the same time that Amelio came in (he is in another thread) little chicle came in after being found on the street at 2 months old. When he came in it was obvious he had had no contact with people or very bad experiences with them because he was terrified to be in the same room as anyone.

I put him in a cage with Amelio hoping that he would help to socialise him because he is so friendly. I spent everyday for as long as I could sitting by his cage and reading him stories just to get him used to me being close to him, then I laid just inside the cage and put my hand close to his body and sang to him.

Unfortunately after 1 month he caught ringworm and had to be quarantined so it meant I couldn't get as close to him and made his socialising even harder. He has been in there ever since and his health has deteriorated ever since. He eats very little and is very skinny and weak.

I decided to put him seperate from the other cats in a cage where I could really concentrate my attention on him and give him wet food to fatten him up abit. I also started to give him Reiki and just recently he had really started to come around and now meows at me when I come in the room and allows me to pick him up and stroke him.

I had a holiday recently and came back to find that he appeared to have lost his sight and his eyes had glazed over, the vet treated him with eye drops and he had started to regain his sight.

However last week I left the island for 3 days for a friends hen do and when I came back to work I was told by the girl covering for me that he was now unable to use his back legs. Deeply concerned that there maybe a deeper problem connected to these symptoms chicle has been booked in tomorrow for an operation, the vet will check all his organs are working properly.

So for those still reading (sorry I know its long winded) being a feral kitten he hasn't really gotten the kind of attention that some of the friendlier cats get and I am the only one that cleans the room he is in so....I just feel like maybe my love and healing won't be enough to get him through.

I really feel like we have made a connection and I feel deeply his want to be loved and cared for and have felt everyday his struggle to survive. This kitten has really touched me because I feel like everyone gave up on him a long time ago.

I know everyone has there own things in life but please, please from the bottom of my heart if you can send him love and healing please.

Thank you so much
xxx

Please keep me posted on the little chaps progress & I will continue to send reiki as often as I can

Thank you so much Shandy and Silvergirl, I nearly cried when I read your responses.

I feel like I am constantly holding my breath, I keep trying to think positively and see him coming out of the operation well but the vet doesn't hold out much hope for him surviving the operation as he has been so weak.

I hope I will be able to see him tomorrow before he goes under and I will tell him that there are people sending him love and healing, I hope whatever happens that he knows how much he is loved.

Here is a photo of him when he first came in and to be honest he isn't much bigger now. And one of him with Amelio.

Sending love to both of You and healing to Chicle.

Thank you all for your lovely messages and thank you for keeping him in your hearts.

Chicle didn't come out of the operation, the vet discovered that his liver was very badly damaged and beginning to fail and he also was positive for f.i.p so she decided that the kindest thing to do was to not wake him up.

I really hope he wasn't scared when he went and it just breaks my heart to know he never knew the love of a family or the comfort of a home. I cleaned the quarantine today and it seemed so empty without his little face, I kept longing so much to hear his little meowing.

I couldn't even cuddle him goodbye or hold him close and let him know how much I loved him and how much I will miss him because of the ringworm. I really hope now that he is living the life he deserved, free from pain and fear but I miss him so much.

Sorry to hear that. So, did the ringworm damage his liver? (I apologize, I don't know what f.i.p. stands for. Feline, something, something?

I am sure he's quite content where he is now, maybe my Fluffy will be there to greet him or Axel, Fluffy's sister.

Hi Silvergirl,

The ringworm is a treatable skin infection that is very easily spread to people and other cats so all the while infected these cats have to be seperated.

The feline infectious peritonitis is a fatal incurable disease, it is horrible because it can cause such a horrible death which is why it is kinder in many cases to put them to sleep once they start to show severe symptoms such a chicle.

The vet said that his body was full of nodules (small lumps i am assuming) and apparently it is the bodies immune system trying to fight the disease that actually causes the damage to organs.

I hope fluffy and Axel will help him settle in where he is, he always liked cuddling with the other cats
