This is a question that will have different answers depending on ones view point,to myself being born was like dying because i didnt want to be born i was fighting against it.and was told by my grandmother that the midwife told my mother that i didnt want to be born i wouldnt move.
i have lived many life times before, and had no desire to come back again.but this is my last time now i walk my final path and im not sorry about it either

Namaste

I believe that they are similar; to die in one realm is to be born in another realm.
With each ending comes a new beginning and with each beginning comes and ending.
I also believe that there is a continuity.

I've been told birth is very painful for the infant being crushed and pushed through the pelvis. Whereas death is painless.

Don't confuse that with a debilitating painful disease. The actual process of leaving the body is painless.

Somtimes I think there is a greater existence, separate from death and birth realms.

Somewhere where everything is normal, and we look back all this existence with a fond humour. :)

IN birth you gain a body while in death you let go of it. These are both transition periods for the soul which is eternal.

It's as natural as the changing of the seasons. A continuation of the cycle of life.

Though as Earth (in the words of Silver Birch) is a pale imitation of the Spirit World, arriving in Spirit with its reunions, end of suffering and wonder, would be immeasurably more joyous than arriving here!

I could use the analogy of death as being like the start of the long, summer holidays and birth as the first day at boarding school!

Good afternoon knightofalbion

"It's as natural as the changing of the seasons. A continuation of the cycle of life."

And one day you'll find your way home.

"Yonder is the true object of our love, which it is possible to grasp and to live with and truly to possess, since no envelope of flesh separates us from it. He who has seen it knows what I say, that the soul then has another life, when it comes to God, and having come possesses Him, and knows when in that state that it is in the presence of the dispenser of true life and that it needs nothing further."
Plotinus

In birth you forget who you are because of all the density. Very scary!
