Grief is my gravity
I decided to go with this one instead. . .
Grief is my gravity
Pausing on my journey
I come to a standstill in my cemetery
I'm meeting here with hope
On a melancholy date-
Hope came with no gifts today-
No flower bouquet
No loving cards addressed from fate.
On the phone this morning-
Hope told me
That you might seize this opportunity
To meet with me
In my cemetery.
So I came here
Clutching onto
our old golden thread-
Hope arrived in time
To gently remind me
That you are dead.
So here in my cemetery -
My wasteland for the brave-
I grieve you
Yet again-
All that I have left of you
Is your name on a grave.
Not even your tombstone
Will let me
Let you go-
It clutches onto my grief
It never surrenders relief.
My love for you was once yellow-
Spirited and mellow-
Yellow as the sun
Lighthearted, gently healing-
Innocently fun.
Now it is dark purple-
Like a deepening bruise
Which I keep on poking
In a vain attempt to remember you-
I wish it was a sapphire
Cool and crisp as the ocean, blue.
You die- I die-
I die- you go on
living in the light-
Who is left to visit me
In my cemetery?
Who will come to resurrect me?
The vultures pick my bones clean-
My bones so white they gleam-
Mister or Mrs grief
With its crown of thorns
And tortured body
Will come to rescue me.
Gripping grief
So dark and gloomy
Will drown me
And grief will resurrect me
Grief will be the dark knight
That crowns me.
Grief is my gravity-
Grief is what grounds me
Grief will marry me-
It will be a marriage of defeat-
Grief will strengthen me for victory
Grief will ready me-
Grief will dress me in a holy gown of glory. . .
Eventually.
