Difference between awareness and focus

Imagine you were on a evening walk with your friend in a park. You both were going round and round the park when your friend wanted to sit in the park bench while you carried on walking. After a while the friend sitting on the bench didn’t feel so well and put his hand out for help. He couldn’t make any sound but just waved his hand to get your attention.
If you are enlightened then would you have seen him or just kept walking because that’s where your 100 percent of your focus is?

This is an intriguing question. I think it depends on how tuned into your friend's energy you are at the moment. I think you'd get a feeling you needed to look their way.

This question seems to arise out of a particular concept of enlightenment. In other words, you are so one-pointed that you are oblivious to everything else around you.

We could just as easily imagine an enlightened person simply walking round in a state of emptiness, fully aware of all that is around.

Or perhaps an enlightened person walking around is no different to anyone else walking round. If that person sees their friend waving for help they do something, otherwise they keep on walking.

This question is based on a particular premise of what it means to be enlightened, but the reality of enlightenment may be quite different.

Peace.
