The Road.

steadfast love turned to ashes in time.
in present feeling you have died
and in past you have left me to live a life without
while you went along in your casket
to another side of life.
Like a whispering wind,
I used to hear you everywhere,
listen to you with the sensations of my heart.
Your very essence surrounded me and I held your hand again
as I self-destructed one last time with you.
In the aftermath of the destruction, the ashes I walked through,
lead so slowly to a walkway lit with the sun that had been absent for years,
I feel myself walking away from you.
And it does make me sad.
The sun surrounds me now and you're no where to be found,
except in my memories.
If only I could turn back around,
walk the other way,
away from the sun,
back down the dirty ash filled road,
into the darkness
and to another side of life,
perhaps I would find you there
