What is Meditation
Meditation is a word which everybody have heard about but few have true knowledge of the word and even very few have actually experienced it.Meditation is a subjective word where experience is real and definition has no meaning.Every individual has to experience it to find what it is really about.
To understand meditation one has to first understand the mind.In modern concept it is divided into three parts conscious ,subconscious and superconscious mind. The first type of mind is concerned with the coordination of day to day activity, subconscious mind controls the hidden memories along with controlling the conscious mind activity and finally the so called superconscious is higher mind which is associated with intuition, inspiration, bliss and transcendental experience.
When we meditate we are able to take our awareness to the different parts of our mind. The ultimate objective of meditation is self-realization and this occur when higher mind is transcended.Self - realization is achieved when a person has contacted his central being and now identifies his existence.
There are two types of meditation .
Active Meditation: Active meditation is that which occurs one performs his daily duties like walking, talking and eating. The fact here is to allow one to meditate while being involved in worldly activities.
Passive Meditation:Passive meditation is the aim of sitting in one pose and performing a meditational practices such fixing mind on a practice.
