Saying "affirmations doesn't work" is like saying "catharsis doesn't work". Actually both work. In psychology, we see sometimes a debate, and even a conflict, between cognitive approaches, and psychoanalysis. (bad) cognitivists say "analysis doesn't work", to wich (bad) analysts reply "cognitivism doesn't work". Actually, not only both work, but they work even better combined. Combined doesn't mean mixed, though.

Same in spirituality, and holistic approaches. If we see the practices in two, there is mostly magic and mysticism. Both work very strongly, Especially if combined in a balanced way. Going even further you see that they both actually include the other part as well, while still keeping it separate. Think about it as in the symbol of the Tao. There is the Yin, the Yang, the Yin of Yang, and the Yang of Yin. All 4 are at the same time combined, and separate.

That's the most powerful approach.

It's your life, your mind, and your choice. What you believe really has nothing to do with what's true for anyone else.

If chanting a few sentences you don't believe in a few times a day didn't work for you, try making every single thought and every word that comes out of your mouth 24 hours a day congruent with what you want in life. All day every day. See how that works for you. Affirmations are great examples of ways that you can think and speak for your own benefit, but they don't do the work for you and make sure your thoughts, words, and actions always line up. You have to do that.

In my thinking there is the brain and there is the Mind. The brain makes our physical body work, and the Mind is connected with all. So affirmations to me, are wishes that we put into Mind to create that very thing. And there IS action in spirit on every thought and deed. You can imagine how many clashes that makes. But to affirm something is to make it "so". If it doesn't come about immediately, it doesn't mean it didn't work - just means it didn't work...yet. There is a reason for everything, there are no mistakes, no accidents, no coincidences. Everything has purpose. Ours is to figure it out.

Sounds like you’re getting what you believe in. Ironically, what you’re saying here is an affirmation in itself.

Yes, it is time waste

With the awareness that everything is a dream, affirmations are invalid anyway. Affirmations are made in order to be able to achieve something. When you realise that you have already achieved everything, peace sets in. Things are perfect as they are and only the psychological mind tries to change them. Stop identifying with the thoughts and everything settles down to peace, joy and tranquillity.

Not sure I entirely get what you mean, but fair enough, if this has worked for you then keep on doing what you have been doing. I just know from my own experience, that affirmations I have used certainly DO work, you just have to be consistent with them and use them every day.
