self
What is this self?
There is only awareness.
Awareness is isness.
There is no self;
there is only isness.

Just as a wave could be said to be a modulation of the ocean or the ocean wave-ing, a self could be said to be a modulation of Oneness or Oneness self-ing.
So right now in present actuality there is a modulation/happening which we call the phenomenal self (just as there is a modulation/happening which we call, computer or chair or forum etc.) But there is no such actuality as a separate, inherently existing self.

There is a self. It is called the ego in whatever form 'self' takes.
Existence can be within or without it at any moment where perception changes.
I can be the biggest egotistical female dog on the planet one moment, totally lost in samadhi the next...as long as I'm aware of the difference.

Self is the reflection of the aggregates of body, feelings, conciousness, volitional formations, perceptions.

I have an association with the word 'ishness' or IS. I once moved to an address whose post code was 'OAS'. I added the letters 'IS' and came up OASIS. That's how everything was operating back then, there were signs all the time and when there weren't I made them up. Suppose deep down I was feeling that life was saying this is a Mirage or a dream.( But i didn't tell the postman that it was all just a mirage) !!!
For me it is the idea of Perfection/Imperfection which led to the idea of no self. Perfection is without Stain, it leads to the ground where there is no clinging and total fulfillment, sometimes it is expressed through the senses and the mind and sometimes it's not. When it is expressed through the senses and the mind its perfect, when it doesn't it's still perfect. So perfection leds this thing they call 'No Self'. You might say perfection is just a word, and i will agree with you but i will say 'no self' is just a phrase. Thanks for bringing the topic up and letting me explore a little
