My current doc is an osteopath. A darling little old man who wears burkenstocks with socks all year round -- even in winter. With him, I finally found someone who treats my hypothyroidism properly and is knowledgeable in alternatives like supplements and herbs and uses them complimentary (with allopathic medicine). I just love him! I travel an hour each way twice a year to see him. He's in his seventies and only works part time. I don't know what I'm going to do when he finally retires. I hope I can find someone equally as good when I need to.

In Australia, osteopaths work on the muscle and bone gently manipulating to right a problem, they have a more holistic approach than chiropractors and are nothing like medical doctors.......I get far better results in quicker time with an osteopath than with a physiotherapist or chiropractor.....they are kind of a mixture of both of those professions but with a holistic bent if you like.....I think they're amazing.......peace xx

I have an old injury.. a bad leg break which was improperly casted resulting in improper bone alignment and ultimately compromised soft tissue (tendons, ligaments, and muscles) causing great pain over rthe years. I find treatment with an orthobionomist to be exceedingly helpful in terms of reducing pain and restoring mobility. The only problem is the old techniques practiced in the beginning days of this modality have been replaced by new and less effective ones, and only those trained in the old ways still know and practice the old methods. I'm fortunate in that the practitioner I have is of the old school.

An osteopath in Holland treats muscles, bones such as joints, the nervous system, organs, lymphatic system etc.

If, however, there is something wrong with my bones like a dislocated disc, tennis elbow, whiplash, I go to an orthomanual therapist. These therapists have a medical degree and gently put everything back in place. They also treat scoliosis. What I like about these people is that they examine you and tell you exactly how many treatments you need. There are never more than 9 treatments.

My chiropractor has just emigrated. I'm bereft. He really helped me a lot - at the beginning much pain, twice-weekly sessions but more recently it was once a month.

Finding the right practitioner can be a nightmare.

I need ongoing treatment, the discs are slipped and will never "unslip" and so it is a case of management.
