One thing about the Windows 7 - in two months I have had over 80 updates - that should be a warning !

Look on the geeky-nerd forums - loads of complaints !
I haven't had any problems and I'm a geek/nerd.. also on the forums I visit last I checked (arstechnica.com) I haven't seen any problems..

What I am super surprised by and I've been running IE9 64bit for 2 weeks now.. is that fricking flash finally works on 64 bit.. all I can remember is for the last 2-4 years you ran vista 64 bit IE.. no flash.. you ran windows 7 IE7 64 bit.. no working flash.. and now I notice per IE9.. flash 64 bit works.. yah..

I haven't noticed this.. but maybe I just don't care..

Been running sp1 for 3-4 weeks and I think.. IE9 for 2 weeks..

BTW.. there is really nothing in sp1.. except for Remote Desktops fix's per my reading..

Well I have just logged in and there have been no new posts today, this week or this month apparently

I guess I'll have to manually sift through all those green leaves on my main page

Me too, for years but it was 3.6.2. Version 4 is a problem. Guess I will wait for 4.1 - lots of other people griping about V4 ESPECIALLY with 64-bit.
Are you not like me, really teed off, with IT firms releasing progs and relying on customers to find the fatal flaws ?

So No new posts ever, I have not written any posts as my posts folder is empty and yet I still get e mail notification when someone replys in a thread that I am subscribed to which is a bit weird..

I am also hearing that chrome and firefox have in some cases really messed up some OS's and have necessitated a clean install in some cases ( I would like to avoid having to do that ).

My PC works and on the plus side my boot time is zippy fast. My guess is that the glitches will be taken care of in the coming weeks with patches from Windows update

Hmmm... well something you could try, but I don't know if it would work or not, would be to change the "Default Age Thread Cut Off" time period. It's under your options, third box down (Thread Display Options), and last thinger in that box.

I really don't know what this will do for you but it's worth a try. I was thinking if you took it off the forum default setting, it might force the issue as to what you see?

Thanks Keare, I have altered my cut off from forum default to show all threads. I have not been able to make any difference with regard to displaying my posts or new posts but can access my subscribed threads through the drop down menu and I still get e mail notification for responses. I have not tried the search facility yet either.

I am sure that while missing out on new threads, I will be able to manage with the compatibility issue

Oh and the PM system seems to have gone bananas too. I have sent One message and apparently posted it to myself once and the recipient twice 3 for the price of 1 . what a bargain.

That is why I still have Windows XP! When I bought my new custom built computer, the service techs at the shop warned me that everyone was having problems with Windows 7. They said they'd had nothing but complaints and hated it with a passion! I was strongly advised to consider sticking with XP, which they were able to install. I did and I have never regretted that choice. If the day comes when XP no longer functions and/or is no longer supported by Windows (don't you just love their strong-arm tactics to force people into purchasing or accepting their new softward??!!??) I will take the plunge and convert to a MacIntosh system. It really is the safest and best, not prone to viruses and the like, and the only reason I've resisted it thus far is because of my familiarity with Windows and reluctance to learn a new system. However, I'm prepared to do so if Windows forces my hand!
