Do you watch dancing programs on TV?

In the UK we have a very popular tv program called Strictly Come Dancing. What it does is take numerous tv celebrities and pair them off with professional dancers and then throughout the series the celebrities must perform dances. They are judged by a panel and the aim is to win the series.

I know the Czech Republic have copied the format and have their own version. It was the BBC which started the format and it has spread worldwide. Are you a fan in your country?

Yes. Nice distraction. I record it and watch on Sunday then turn on the results. It's obvious that the celebrity who wins will be the one with the biggest fan base among the public, only marginally because of their dancing. Shame that Saffron was voted off and I'll be very disappointed if Karim is chucked out this Saturday.

Australia has a similar programme.

Dancing on Ice comes on in a few weeks.

Yes, I watch - that is I watched until Emma Weymouth was voted out, a woman of such physical beauty and refined presence that this old man almost fell in love. I have another favourite - Karen - but she has such a terrible hair cut this year that I just can't bear to look at her.
So I no longer watch and was put off anyway this year by the music choices, myself I prefer some sort of melody to dance and swing to, my late wife and I loved to dance to good music.

Of course I'm not 'cool' but 'cold' is what this year's Strictly music has left me.

However, I'd just like to add that the BBC always has and always will be an excellent Institution. For that is what it is. I'm glad I can now switch it on and hear and see something decent in English. I've only been able to do this for two or three years now, up until then only BBC Prime was to be had in the country in which I live.
